This summer, Have a Seat in downtown Glens Falls' newest outdoor public art exhibit!
You've never sat in chairs like these before!
Whimsical, wacky, fanciful, edgy, beautifully detailed, and fun.
Made by regional fine artists, each Adirondack chair is a unique design reflecting why Glens Falls is such a special place.
Stroll through our charming historic downtown as you enjoy the art, the shops, the restaurants, and attractions. Then you can say "I had a seat in Glens Falls...and it was terrific!"
At the end of the season these chairs will go up for auction at a "Chair-itable" event with proceeds going to City Park Restoration Project, Crandall Public Library, Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council, and the wonderful chair artists.

What if Jimmer had a seat?!
July 12th, 2011So I heard through the grapevine that Jimmer was home this past weekend. Some people saw him at his favorite pizza restaurants. And it made me think, is Jimmer too tall to sit in our Adirondack Chairs? Maybe not, they are very spacious. Everyone who I have seen sitting looks very comfortable.
Which made me think deeper, which chair would Jimmer like the best?! This question would have been easier last year, when there was a Glens Falls High School mascot chair. My guess for this year, I think he would like “Scenes of Glens Falls” by Sandie Keyser to remind him of his hometown or maybe he’d like “Freehawk” by Diane Swanson because he wants a chair that is beautiful while representing power. The next time you are Down town or perhaps surfing the Have a Seat website think about it, which chair do you think Jimmer would have a seat in? And tell us about it!
While you’re in Glens Falls…
June 16th, 2011There are a lot of great events happening in Glens Falls! Did you get a chance to brave the rain and come out for the LARAC Festival, the Crandall Library Booksale, or the Downtown Business’ sidewalk sales last weekend? Or are you going to APE’s Third Thursday Art Walk tonight? Whatever your reason for being Downtown recently, you have probably had a chance to scope out the chairs for 2011. Do you have a favorite chair, or a favorite seat for “people watching”? We would love to see your pictures! Send your favorite “chair photos” (limit of 3) to us at, haveaseatGFblog@gmail.comand we will share them… both here and on Have a Seat’s Facebook page. Show off your photography skills, your ability to spot great art, your beautiful family, your pets, or your own photogenic self!
We can’t wait to see what you have to share!!
Come celebrate the start of Have a Seat 2011
May 25th, 2011This Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 12:00 noon, the Have a Seat in Glens Falls 2011 outdoor arts project and tourism initiative, presented by Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company, will be launched with a brief kick-off ceremony. Placement of thirty-five artistically modified Adirondack chairs is set to begin May 25 for an official Memorial Day start of the exhibit. Community leaders and the Have a Seat planning committee invite the public to celebrate this special occasion, our talented Have a Seat artists, and Glens Falls – the summer 2011 destination! The event is open to everyone, no reservations required.
The kick-off will take place on the sidewalk in front of the main branch of Have a Seat Presenting Sponsor Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company, at 250 Glen Street in Glens Falls. Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond, President and CEO of Glens Falls National Bank Tom Hoy, and Have a Seat Chairman Nick Caimano will each say a few words. Other members of the Have a Seat planning committee will be present as well. We hope to see you there!
